Caffeine Isn’t Working Anymore? Try Color Instead
Feb 12, 2026
Caffeine isn’t doing it anymore!!!
I totally get it. You wake up tired. You drink the coffee. You drink more coffee.
And somehow you still feel flat. Low energy. Low motivation. And a Low spark for life. Which is the opposite of how I want you to feel.
And before you reach for another espresso, may suggest something radical.
What if the thing that gives you more energy isn’t in all your mug…but in your closet?
Because color is not just aesthetic. Color is neurological and it actually changes how you feel.
It changes how other people perceive you And it changes how much energy you bring into a room.
This isn’t woo-woo. It’s science.
What Color Is Proven To Do
Let me tell you why this is not just “wear pink and feel happy” nonsense.
Your brain reacts to color before you even have a thought about it.
- Red literally raises your heart rate.
- Blue lowers stress.
- Green restores mental clarity.
- Pink has even been used in controlled environments to reduce aggression.
Your nervous system doesn’t wait for your opinion. It responds automatically.
So lets use that, lets hack that for feeling energy and vitality and a love for life.
When you put on color, you are shifting your physiology.
Not metaphorically.
Literally.
- Red reads powerful.
- Blue reads competent.
- Green reads balanced.
- Pink reads warm and approachable.
So when you put on a red sweater, you’re not just “adding color.”
You’re changing how you show up. And how people respond to you.
And one more thing. Our brains are wired to notice contrast and vibrancy.
Color increases memorability dramatically in marketing studies.
Which means on Zoom…In meetings…In real life…
The woman in color is remembered.
And when you feel seen, you bring more energy.
That’s not fashion. That’s psychology.
The Endless Dark Zoom Calls...Why We Default to Black and Gray
I’ve been on so many Zoom calls over the past few years. And almost every single screen looks like this. A sea of Gray. Black. Navy. Beige.
These are Beautiful, Smart women. Ultra High-achieving women. But visually? They all look the same. Blend together.
And I want to say this clearly. There is nothing wrong with black or gray. I love them, I wear them. Black is chic, powerful and timeless.
But here’s the question:
Are you choosing it? Or are you defaulting to it?
Because most women default to dark neutrals for five very specific reasons.
Let’s talk about them.
Five Reasons You Hesitate to Wear Color (And Why They’re Not True)
- “I need to be taken seriously at work.”
You might think color makes you look less professional. But research in color perception actually shows that certain colors increase perceived competence.
- Deep blue increases trust.
- Emerald green signals stability.
- Burgundy signals authority with warmth.
Professional doesn’t mean invisible. You can be powerful and vibrant at the same time.
- “Color is for younger women.”
No. Color is not age-specific.In fact, as we age, our skin tone softens. Wearing overly dark colors can drain the face and exaggerate shadows.
Strategic color actually makes you look more alive.
It reflects light back onto the skin. It creates contrast. It energizes your features.
Color doesn’t make you look childish. The right color makes you look radiant.
- “I don’t know what looks good on me.”
This one is real. Most women weren’t taught how to use color intentionally.
But here’s the good news. You don’t need a full color analysis to start. You can begin by noticing which colors make people say, “You look amazing today.”
That’s data. Start there.
- “It’s easier to just wear black.”
Yes. It’s easy. But easy isn’t always energizing.
When everything in your wardrobe is dark, you remove decision fatigue, yes. But you also remove stimulation. The brain craves novelty and visual interest. A hit of color creates that micro-stimulation. Which translates to a tiny lift in mood. And tiny lifts add up.
- “I don’t have the energy to think about this.”
This is the one I hear most.
I was on a Zoom recently and a woman was saying she has no energy for anything.
Kids. Work. Aging parents. Life. And that’s real. But here’s the thing. You don’t need to redesign your whole wardrobe. You need one shift. Because when you look in the mirror and see something vibrant instead of something safe…It changes how you carry yourself.
Energy is reciprocal. You generate it through action. Sometimes color is the smallest action with the biggest emotional return.
Here is the Easiest Way to Introduce Color
You don’t need to go full technicolor. Just Start with a top.
Why? Because it frames your face. It shows up on Zoom and it impacts how you see yourself immediately.
So I ordered three sweaters recently, all under 60 dollars, and I want to show you how I’d style them.
Look 1: Red Short Sleeve Zara Sweater- $50

Red increases heart rate and stimulates alertness. If you’re feeling flat, red is your jolt.
I love layering this sort of sleeve with a button down. I’ve gone with a chambray blue today, but you can wear white or stripes. This sort of silhouette in a sweater is so versatile.
Look 2: Green Zara Sweater-$45

Green is psychologically associated with restoration and balance. It calms the nervous system while still feeling fresh.
You can wear this with nothing underneath. I don’t mind my bra showing through. Or you can pop a tank under. I love both ways.
Look 3: Pink Zara Sweater -$45

Pink has been shown in some environmental studies to reduce stress responses. It reads warm. Approachable.Open. And before you say pink is too sweet…
A clean, saturated pink with structured denim feels modern.
The Energy Loop
If caffeine isn’t doing it anymore…Maybe it’s not about more stimulation.
Maybe it’s about visual vitality. mYou cannot control everything in your life. You cannot control how busy your schedule is. You cannot control the world. But you can control what you put on your body.
And what you put on your body sends signals to your brain. Color is input. And your brain responds.
So if you’re exhausted…If you’re feeling invisible…If you’re feeling like you’ve been in survival mode for a little too long…Try this...Before you buy another productivity planner. Before you buy another supplement. Add one hit of color.
Not because trends say so. Not because I say so.
But because science says it changes how you feel.
And I want you to feel alive.
